Toronto, ON - June 4, 2015 – On Sunday May 31, GREAT GULF participated in Prostate Cancer Canada’s STEP UP CHALLENGE, presented by Scotiabank, climbing over 5,000 ft of stairs, and raised over $70,000 setting an unprecedented national record. “I am so proud of our Great Gulf Team who enthusiastically embraced this challenge. We set an aggressive target of $60,000 and have surpassed it,” said Great Gulf President Christopher Wein. “This is a testament to incredible team work, a passion and commitment for helping those whose lives have been touched by Prostate Cancer and strength of character to be great role models in the corporate community.” “Congratulations to Great Gulf, Canada’s top fundraising team,” said Rocco Rossi, President & CEO, Prostate Cancer Canada. “To everyone who participated in this challenge, whether in Calgary, Vancouver or Toronto, we will demonstrate our gratitude by investing the nearly $670,000 raised by these events in the most promising prostate cancer research.” Prostate cancer is the most common cancer to affect Canadian men. It is important to get screened regularly so that if you do develop prostate cancer, the appropriate action can be taken. Prostate Cancer Canada recommends that men in the 40’s have a PSA test in order to establish their baseline. The survival rate for prostate cancer can be over 90% when detected early.
