Tucker Hi-Rise Continues Work on X2 Condo in Toronto
Construction is moving upwards at the X2 Condos in Toronto, Ont. Tucker Hi-Rise Construction Inc. is construction manager of the 49-storey, 560-unit project that will include fitness facilities, a library and lounge, a pool, retail space and six levels of underground parking.

Over the past 35-plus years, Great Gulf Homes has developed both low- and high-rise projects throughout the GTA, including current sites Yonge + Rich, Monde, HOT and Grandview. But they haven’t stopped there, with a group of companies that includes commercial development firm First Gulf, construction management company Tucker Hi-Rise Construction, and Brockport Home Systems, which creates prefabricated housing systems. Alan Vihant is Great Gulf’s senior vice president, high rise.

If you pass a five-metre sculpture at King and Charlotte and wonder what it is, here's the deal: Titled Ballast, the bronze casting is a work of public art by Canadian-born, L.A.-based Jed Lind was chosen by a panel of experts on behalf of Great Gulf for its Charlie condominiums. The piece is meant as a metaphor for King Street, a call back to its working-class past and salute its future.
